Now I become myself. It's taken time, many years and places...

a terrace in paris

Bud spent last week working in Europe and sent this picture of his "makeshift terrace" from a Paris hotel room. Though I was unable to accompany him on this trip, I do have a special visit of my own planned to the City of Light in November. It's been six years since I've seen Paris and I am envisioning long walks in the rain and hours spent in cafes scribbling in my notebook and sipping chocolat chaud. A first time visit to Shakespeare and Company bookstore is a must. I've also been daydreaming about Laduree macaroons since my last trip. As for the rest, the possibilities are endless and exciting!

Where would your Parisian adventure begin?

aaaahhhhhhh.

Paris.

I think I would have to discover some beautiful gardens, some delicious bakeries, light candles in the cathedrals, perhaps just one museum, and mainly, people watch and window shop and soak it all in, and go to sleep early each night before starting another day under a parisian dawn!

chocolate and croissants and then notre dame. i learned a few years ago - after seeing a coworker's photo - that you can get a picture of the gargoyles above the city and i am determined to get one someday. why did i not know this when i was there, i ask.

A walk around the city by the river Seine taking in all of the details of architecture, skyline, and river traffic....stopping to refer to my map and to linger over a simple cup of coffee with delicate sugar cubes added for pure delight. Just before twilight I would begin walking to the Trocedero Gardens to view the Eiffel tower sparkling against the night sky and then enjoy (maybe share) a chocolate crepe and cafe.

My Parisian adventure would surely begin in the Marais - my favorite part of the city. I'd wake early and I'd go down the street to L'Mariage for a pot of breakfast tea and in the past I'd have pain au chocolat, but now, I'd just breathe it in and dream.

I'd visit the Picasso museum and then I'd go to Printemps so I could stock up on my t-shirts, (petit bateau) and get another bag that I can't remember its name.

The rest of my time, I'd roam up and down the streets and the Seine, cameras in hand, cafes on my radar.

I'm SO excited for you and this trip and I'll live vicariously through you. xo
